Welcome

The Mental Health Association of Oregon is an inclusive grassroots organization dedicated to empowering consumer / survivor voices to drive services and policies that foster wellness and full participation in the community.

Values of the Mental Health Association of Oregon
* Dignity and Respect--People who choose to receive treatment for mental health disabilities/disorders are treated with dignity and respect.
* Services must be linguistically and culturally appropriate.
* Justice demands that every person, regardless of disability, and other characteristics such as race, ethnicity, age, sexual identity, gender and economic status, have the rights and responsibilities of full participation in society.
* Self-determination--People have the right to choose how they live and choices they make in life. They also provide the direction for their treatment.
* Mental health is essential to the development and realization of every person's full potential.
* We support the right to refuse treatment except in the most extreme circumstances. Force and coercion are traumatizing and disrupt relationships and community.
* Interdependence--People use natural support systems to create a life of their choosing rather than relying on the mental health systems to sustain them.
* People have the right to receive treatment in the most integrated setting in the community.

We are unable to give referrals for counseling or social work.
